Welcome to Alan’s Astrological Aspects Video Blog for Sunday, June 5th, 2011. This video blog is to give you a good idea of the conditions for the day and to teach people astrological thinking. We are centered in Chicago, so remember correct your time for your zone.

1. Our sunrise chart shows that Jupiter that has moved into Taurus, which, by the way, is also sextile Neptune. Now, it will take a while for it to be exact, but they are in the same degree and will be for a while, so there is going to be a general influence of this aspect as the background for things until that Jupiter moves to the next degree. Now, what is this bringing? I would say that these two would really be an influence for kicking in your spirituality, it would be great for religious practices, meditation, etc. Now, depending on how Neptune is in your natal chart, we also have to consider that Neptune can bring some confusion, but there’s less chance of that with a positive sextile degree.

Also, you can see that the moon is moving through the last degrees of Cancer. While technically its void of course, remember that several classical astrologers said that things can still happen with the moon in Cancer, so I would, for most part, disregard that void moon today. However, the moon does move into Leo at

2. 10:04 am and shifting to a fire sign will help to pep up your day. Moods will become more social and extraverted, but, at the same time, the moon is making a square to Jupiter, so watch out for a sense of overindulgence, which squares to the moon can bring out: keep to your diets folks and watch out for spending money!!

3. The moon moves out of that aspect at 11:50, so you don’t have too long to worry about that, but its on to an aspect to Uranus, which can bring unexpected things, but also some inspiration and, since its a trine, this is in the plus column. That lasts for several hours also, since the moon is at 4 degrees, going out of that aspect at

4. 6:56 pm Central time. It then onto to a positive sextile to Mercury, another one of those “thinking cap” aspects, so look to do some writing this evening or perhaps some other mental activity, it should go much more smoothly with the emotions in good rapport with the mind. This continues until

5. 10:28 pm when the moon moves out of that critical degree and then is on to the next aspect which will be tomorrow, another positive one, which is a sextile to Saturn, but for those of us in the central time zone, it will occur overnight.

1. Well today is a much quieter day than yesterday, that for sure. We have the sunrise chart here and it shows the recent new moon in Gemini, which of course, is still somewhat of an influence. The next aspect for the moon is actually tomorrow with a sextile to Jupiter, so you can figure on some overall increase in optimism with an influence like that. We do have one other thing though and that is:

2. Mercury moving on into Gemini at 3:03 pm Chicago time. You can see that it joins the sun and the moon in that sign, adding to that “thinking cap” feeling I’ve been talking about for the last day or so with some of the aspects. The other thing is, Mercury is the domicile ruler of Gemini, so it just loves being here and will be great to hook into its aspects in the next month or so. A planet in its rulers is particularly strong, being like the king in his castle, so the aspects will be particularly fortuitous.

1. So for sunrise, we see that the moon is coming up on a conjunction to the sun. This is a new moon, of course, but today’s is special: its also a partial solar eclipse and the sun will be 60% covered as it shines on the north pole. So there will be only a partial midnight sun for some people up north! Now, I don’t have time to go into all the particulars of solar eclipses, but I can refer you to a nice blog post at starsandstones.wordpress.com, Peter Stockinger’s blog. In other things for the moon, you can see that the Uranus sextile is done by sunrise and we are mostly focused on that moon and sun. Now what happens is that at

2. 2:05 pm the moon moves into 10 Gemini, which also means that its trine to Saturn as it conjuncts the sun. So, to my way of thinking, this makes for a particularly “airy” kind of configuration, calling for some real discipline, especially for the next month, with our thinking, a calling down to reality, since Saturn is involved here. Right now is the best time to take advantage of it, think about how to discipline yourself or what tasks there are to do in the coming month, especially things you should be thinking about and planning. It would be a great time to do some writing also, not just now but for the next moon cycle. Now the funning thing is, the sun is the one that first moves out of the degree at

3. 3:16 pm so you would think that the conjunction is over then, but actually, the moon is catching up and it moves into 11 Gemini at

4. 3:49 pm and its in THIS degree that the actual eclipse takes place!

5. So, finally, the moon moves out into 12 Gemini at 5:53 pm and the next aspect to consider is a sextile to Jupiter, but that’s in two days. So check in tomorrow for some more information, we have planetary aspects and moves happening between now and that moon aspect!

So for our sunrise chart for today, as people in the US get back to work, we have a lot of things happening. You can see that the moon is coming up on the Mercury conjunction that I mentioned yesterday, so you still have some time in the early morning to take advantage of that “put on your thinking cap” aspect. This lasts until

2. 11:13 am Chicago time, when the moon moves out of that degree with Mercury. Now a lot of your calendars, etc. will say that the moon is void of course right now, but if you’ve been following here for a bit, the moon is in its exaltation and can still make things happen in Taurus, so I wouldn’t worry about it at this point. It will move into Gemini and that “thinking cap” energy will increase again but we have a little surprise before then.

3. If you hadn’t noticed, the sun was sneaking up on a trine to Saturn and it moves into 10 Gemini where it makes a partile aspect to that “wise old prime minister”. So what does that do for us? Well, today and into tomorrow is a good time to think for a bit about the boundaries, limits and, most of all, the realities of our lives. Saturn is the reality planet and here we get a chance to use it to take a look at ourselves (the sun) and see just where we are. It also great for discipline, this is a good time to see what kind of resolutions you forgot about at New Year’s and maybe re-resolve to make some efforts. Now, we don’t want to forget that moon, because it

4. moves into Gemini at 6:57 pm and may help your thinking along these lines. There is a small bump in the road though, we have a square to Neptune happening for the next few hours. Neptune squares can lead to some problems with thinking realistically, so watch out for some self deception, fortunately, this won’t last long, because the moon moves out of that degree at

5. 8:52 pm and then we finish up the day with a nice sextile to Uranus. Now THAT will help with the thinking process, maybe give us some inspiration, so I would take that along with the trine to Saturn and come up with some good plans. Maybe just for the next month, since tomorrow is the new moon, but we have a surprise coming with that, so be sure to look up Astro Aspects for tomorrow!

With our sunrise chart, we see for this Memorial Day in the US, the moon is moving through Taurus, about to conjunct Mars. Now, as I said yesterday, we have to combine the symbols here of the slow, fixed rather earthy pleasures of a moon in Taurus, where its exalted and that brash physical exertion of Mars, which is none too happy here in Taurus. The moon wins out because he’s in his exaltation, but we can make Mars happy by doing something that would fit both of them. My suggestion is to connect with nature today, perhaps by doing something physical on this day off for so many people. You can take a walk in a park or perhaps go hiking, maybe spend some time gardening, or perhaps spend some time, if you are in a nice warm spot, enjoying nature near some water. Now, the aspect continues for a while, but the moon moves past Mars and onto the next degree at

2. 1:45 pm Chicago time. The nice thing here is that the next aspect is a wonderful conjunction with Venus. As aspects go, you can’t get much better than this: Venus is in its home sign and the Moon is in its exaltation. So, the emotional force of the moon is added to the relationship principle of Venus to make for a wonderful time to spend with loved ones or family. This is also a very romantic aspect in a very sensuous sign and would be great for spending some intimate time with someone special. For more mundane things, yes, you could continue that gardening work, but take some time out to focus on the fact that you are helping to make the world more beautiful, you’ll be glad you did, a moment of reflection like that is food for a soul with an aspect like this. All good things must come to an end and so too does this, the moon moves past Venus at

3. 9:35 pm Chicago time, so we had a good run for it. The next aspect is pretty good also, lasting about 12 hours, going into Tuesday, a conjunction with Mercury. This is another “put on your thinking caps” aspect, so you can take some time to plan things, do some writing or perhaps hook into the inspiring energies available now.

1. For today’s sunrise chart, we see that the moon is almost exactly conjunct Jupiter. Now, this is at 41 and 42 minutes of the degree, so, if the moon moves approximately a degree every two hours, then e are looking at a little more than a half hour before this ends. Indeed, the next chart

2. is for 6:02 am, showing just when the moon becomes void of course. Now, in the US, this is a holiday weekend, and I’m thinking not too many people will be up and doing a lot this early in the morning. If you are though, stick to routine things for the rest of the moon’s journey through Aries. This is the usual advice for a moon void of course condition, when its not making any aspects to any other planet before moving into the next sign. That move occurs at

3. 8:02 am, exactly two hours later and does two things at once: it shifts the general mood to a moon in Taurus time. For the next two days, this lunar period is best expressed as practical, a little stubborn and sensual with an artistic flavor. Right now though, the moon is sextile Neptune, so there’s a heightened sense of connection to the bigger picture that Neptune gives us. Neptune is a planet of spirituality, but it can also be a planet of some confusion and deception, but this is less likely with a positive sextile aspect. Use this for taking some time and not doing anything physical, rather go inside, do some meditation or deeper thinking on things, maybe plan the next month ahead and connect it to your life purpose, all of this would fit nicely into a Neptune time. Now the moon moves out of here at

4. 10:02 am, so its not too long of a period. We then move on to the moon making a trine to Pluto. Now, you can take those contemplative thoughts you just had and see about what actions can you do today to make them happen. Now, I know, its a holiday weekend in the US, but maybe there’s a small thing you can do, even if you are on vacation: make a list, prioritize things, tell your family your plans and get them excited about them. Remember: if you plug into the power of Pluto at this time, the chances of getting something done go way up. This is the planet of the “snowball effect”, something started with its power can erupt later at greater magnitude, so make sure you are on a positive track here! Now, you have a bit of time to do this with the moon moving out of that aspect at

5. 9:58 pm. With that, we are on to a conjunction with Mars which will actually happen tomorrow in about 14 hours. Now, while Mars is a go-get-em kind of planet, full of energy, we have to consider that its in Taurus which slows it down quite a bit and make sit rather grouchy. To make use of this symbolism, I would look at doing some gardening, a physical activity that is very Taurean in nature, thus satisfying both of these symbols. We will look more at this tomorrow.

Welcome back to those folks who’ve been following this and hello to all those who are just starting off with me! I’ve been excited to see countries like Sweden, Estonia, India and even Albania watching, as well as all those people in the USA from different states!

Our sunrise chart for today show that we had a night time conjunction between Uranus and the moon, which I mentioned yesterday. Also, you can see that the moon is making a nice sextile next to the sun, in just a few minutes it will be in the same degree or, as the term goes, partile. This aspect will be great to wake up to, with harmony between our emotional selves and our basic ego, according to modern psychological astrology. Take advantage of this general good mood to start your day off right, especially with the moon in Aries, it has a lot of good starting energy now. That sun in Gemini will help with your thinking process also. This continues until

2. 7:45 am Chicago time, so if you are a late riser, you missed it!! Now you have to deal with a Moon/Pluto square a horse of a different color! This puts a damper on emotions rights away, with that Pluto energy that Noel Tyl describes as “a wet blanket over a hand grenade”! I love that expression and you should watch out for the next few hours for things erupting, tempers flaring or a general uneasiness. Now is NOT the time to ask the boss for a raise! This last only until

3. 9:46 am however, and we start into an opposition to Saturn. This is another wet blanket, but no hand grenade here! There’s a slow down to things, moods may go south and enthusiasm will be hard to find. For those at work, it will seem like the week has been long and you just can’t wait for it to be over. However, the feeling lasts until

4. 5:51 pm, just after work time ends, so the relief of being off for the holiday weekend (at least in the USA) will be added to by the Saturn aspect finishing off! The Next aspect will be more than a day away, with the moon conjuncting Jupiter, so for the rest of the evening and into tomorrow, look for your enthusiasm and optimism to return! So, for our sunrise chart today, we see that the moon is moving through Pisces. Now, yesterday I mentioned that the moon is Void of Course, but if you’ve been following along, you know that the classical astrologers, especially Guido Bonnati and William Lilly both agreed that even void, the moon can still perform in Pisces, since its ruled by Jupiter, the benefic planet. I would say that since Jupiter is in Aries, where he is one of the triplicity rulers, this is especially true. The moon then moves in Aries later today

2. at 7:37 pm. Now, you should feel a fairly big shift in moods, at least if you have some sensitivity, since there’s a big difference between Pisces and Aries. During most of the day, moods should be fairly relaxed, people will be looking for connections to each other due to the watery influence of Pisces, after 7:37 pm Chicago time, however, we power things up with the moon getting into the go-get-’em fiery sign of Aries. Also, while the next aspect is tomorrow in the wee hours of the night, its still a conjunction to Uranus, so look for unexpected things and maybe some inspiration if you use that start up Aries power!

Today ends up being a rather simple day then, which gives me a little time to explain how I got into all this. I’ve been looking for a good portion of my life, for the big picture explanation of why things are the way they are, having my sun in Pisces and my Moon in Scorpio is a fairly good explanation of that. Astrology is a master symbol system that I really love to explore. I’m teaching a class right now and its been exciting to take a famous person’s chart and start to delineate it in the class. As I’m doing it, its amazing to see how much it reflects the nature of the person, giving clues to their inner conflicts and their strengths. As I work with people in individual sessions, I find the same thing. You can use this to explore more of who you are, your potentials and your areas of growth. The study of this by yourself is rewarding but occasionally its helpful to have an expert along for the ride, to show you things you hadn’t noticed, especially since the chart is such a rich symbol system and astrology has so many ways to look at things.

Anyway, that’s why I’m into this and that’s why I love to teach and help people, combining this ancient tool with modern methods of psychotherapy and counseling.

1. So, with sunrise, you can see that the moon is still void of course and the sun is just about to finish up being in 2 Aquarius. That Mars/Venus conjunction is no longer partile, but some of you may well still feel its effects, as Venus moves away. The thing is, that moon only needs to move one more degree to get to the next sign, so it makes it there at

2. 7:24 am AND the sun moves into 3 Gemini also. So we get another mixed influence: the sun sextile Uranus, which will be for the next 24 hours or so, giving us some independence to our self concept for one thing. This is a great time to break out of ordinary routines, hook into your inspiration and go for it. The moon has shifted and is now conjunct Neptune, giving an emotional flavor of either confusion or another source of inspiration. How you handle Neptune is really up to you, try to do something creative for the next two hours if you are an early riser and it should pay off. Of course, the moon will pass beyond Neptune and then start to square the sun at

3. 9:23 am so we have that last quarter phase of the moon starting up now. I would consider what I’d like to finish up in the next week, use that culminating energy of the moon to put a nice bow tie on a project and wrap it up. Of course, this 90 degree aspect also has a bit of tension between emotions and your self concept. There’s a chance that you can end up with feeling the pull of your feelings in one way and your self concept in another. Try to get both of them focused on that project and you should be okay. This is partile at

4. 1:21 pm when the moon is in the same degree as the sun and then slacks off at 3:20 pm when that moon moves into the next degree. The next feeling to look for involving the moon is a sextile to Pluto, so you can hook into some late afternoon power to finish some things up. The moon continues this until

5. 11:19 pm Chicago time so you have a good chunk of time to really work on some projects, do a good workout or maybe plan some things. The next aspect is to Mars during the night and if you are up late, that power is still available, although Mars isn’t particularly strong in Taurus.
